A Class Rating Instructor (CRI) is an instructor that instructs existing pilots who have a current licence and medical.

Instruction can take place even if the pilot has a lapsed certificate of experience.

CRI's can instruct on any aspect of flying up to the level of their own current ratings.

Consequently, Brian can instruct pilots as follows:

  • undertake and sign off the biennial "dual" one hour flight required as part of the certificate of experience revalidation
  • undertake type conversions between HR200, C152, C172, PA28 day and night
  • undertake club currency checkouts on any of the above aircraf(day and night)
  • provide general revision and refresher training including night and IMC on the above aircraft
  • authorise pilot sign-outs on aircraft tech logs
