Mandatory Earls Colne Olmpic Briefing

(Issued March 2012)

THIS NOTICE IS IMPORTANT.
As you are all aware, the Olmpic Airspace covers Earls Colne Airfield. Because of this, we will be operating under an EXEMPTION that has severe legal implications for the "Responsible Person" for Earls Colne airfield.
There are also severe penalties for pilots who fail to follow the correct procedures ranging from the legal process to military intervention during flight.... (the worst kind - say no more). Needless to say, any action pertaining to Earls Colne pliots will also result in Earls Colne losing its exemption, resulting in no flying being possible at all!!
For this reason, Earls colne Airfield have made a decision to ONLY allow pilots to fly PROVIDING they have attended at least one of the Olympic Airspace Briefings below that has been specifically tailored to Earls Colne.
This applies to EVERYONE at Earls Colne, including ground staff, instructors, students, PPLs, of both club and home based aircraft (irrespective of location - north side, hangered or on the parking pads). Earls Colne will also be STRICTLY following PPR for non-resident inbound aircraft - no PPR by phone beforehand will result in acceptance refusal.
A master record of seminar attendees will be kept, and only those named pilots who have attended will be allowed to fly. Please note that the requirement is on a personal pilot basis - i.e. aircraft group members CAN NOT just send one representative.
We hope you will support us in this required action to assure the safety and happy flying of all concerned during the Olympic period.
If you are wishing to fly from Earls Colne during the Olympic period you MUST attend one of the following briefing sessions:

Individual briefing sessions will NOT be available beyond these dates, so please don't expect to turn up during the Olympic Period expecting to be briefed on the fly....
Also - we will NOT be covering how to use AFpeX Flight Planning - only what additional information is required when submitting flight plans! Please make sure YOU are familiar with how to file flight plans - ground staff will NOT be able to submit flight plans for you during this period.
Finally - just so we are all clear - especially during the Olympic Period, the computer in the Radio Room may NOT be used to file flight plans, since ground staff will need constant access to this system to receive inbound flight plans during this busy period. The system has already been changed to not allow flight plan submission from this PC. The Flight Planning / Weather PC is available for this purpose in the main club house.
It would be useful if yu could let the club know which date you intent to come along we we don't end up with 400 people on one night!
Many thanks - and see you all on one of the dates above!

Hangar Space Available
